Europium III tri(bis(trimethylsilylamide) - Introduction
Tris[N,N-bis(trimethylsilyl)amide]europium(III) is a coordination compound with the formula Eu[N(Si(CH3)3)2]3 (abbreviated as Eu-TSA). It is a colorless crystal, soluble in non-polar solvents such as benzene and methylene chloride.
Eu-TSA are often used as precursors of metal-organic compounds in chemical research, especially in coordination chemistry and coordination polymers. It can be used as a catalyst, fluorescent probe and luminescent material in organic synthesis, and is widely used in organic synthesis, organic optoelectronics and luminescence.
The preparation Eu-TSA is usually obtained by reacting EuCl3 with trimethylchlorosilane (N(Si(CH3)3)2Cl) in diethyl ether. EuCl3 is first reacted with a silicon reagent to produce Eu(N(Si(CH3)3)2)3, and then reacted with N(Si(CH3)3)2Cl to give Eu-TSA.
Regarding safety information, Eu-TSA is relatively stable at room temperature, but contact with oxidants and acids should be avoided. During operation, care should be taken to avoid contact with skin and eyes, and appropriate protective equipment should be worn when necessary. Observe safe practices and appropriate laboratory practices when using or handling Eu-TSA.
